Friday, May 27, 2016 - 11:00am

Catholic Charities of Central Texas deployed their Disaster Response team to help families in need after flooding and tornados damaged homes and businesses throughout their 25-county service area in Central Texas.

Catholic Charities is working with local officials to assess where and what is needed in each area. At this time, areas of concern are Bastrop, Brazos, Caldwell, Fayette, Lee and Travis counties. With more rains expected throughout the week, Catholic Charities is preparing for the situation in each area to change rapidly.

Individuals in Central Texas needing help can call the Catholic Charities Disaster Hotline at 512-766-7111.

Catholic Charities is asking for monetary donations to support immediate and long-term recovery needs for victims across their service region. Financial gifts will allow the agency to help families with pressing needs, such as food, clothing and emergency shelter. Donations can be given by calling 512-651-6132 or visiting www.ccctx.org/donate.

Other ways to help, such as volunteers or collections of specific items, will be posted as needed.

“Once again, our neighbors here in Central Texas need help to recover from damaging flooding and tornadoes,” says Executive Director Sara Ramirez. “Once again, Catholic Charities stands ready to bring comfort and relief to those affected by these unfortunate events.”
