WHO WE ARE
Catholic Charities of Central Texas is a faith-based social services organization serving individuals and families across 25 Central Texas counties. We provide a holistic set of programs and services to engage, educate, and empower Central Texans out of poverty now and into the future. Catholic Charities of Central Texas is a member of one of the largest social service networks in the United States, Catholic Charities USA. We have worked to meet the needs of the most vulnerable members of our community since 1999. Catholic Charities is here to help ANYONE in need, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or economic circumstance.

OUR HISTORY
Catholic Charities of Central Texas was formed in 1999 when a group of concerned citizens approached Bishop John McCarthy about the need for our Catholic community to come together to serve like Christ for working poor families. Without hesitation, Bishop McCarthy said, “YES.”
Since then, Catholic Charities of Central Texas has grown to become a multi-service agency, with professional social service programs that take a holistic approach to help families reach their full potential. We partner with Central Texas parishes, schools, and other social services organizations to reach across all 25 counties of our service region to engage, educate and empower families out of poverty.
Today, we continue the legacy of our founders by answering the call to action in helping families reach their God-given potential and doing it with dignity and respect.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR BISHOP
Dear Friends of Catholic Charities,
Jesus Christ founded his Church with the mission to proclaim the Word of God, celebrate the sacraments, and to exercise charitable ministry. This three-fold mission is an inseparable and indispensable expression of the Church.
Catholic Charities of Central Texas is a tangible means of the Church’s work of charity – reaching out to live the mission of service to the poor and vulnerable by strengthening families and promoting respect for human dignity and life. After more than two decades, Catholic Charities continues to carry out exemplary charitable work for the benefit of all who live in the Diocese of Austin.
As I travel the diocese, I am heartened by the many ways the Church lives up to its responsibility of charity. I am grateful for the work of Catholic Charities to eliminate financial, educational, social, and spiritual poverty in Central Texas through its work of counseling, pregnancy help, financial stability, immigration services, and veterans’ services.
