A MESSAGE FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dear CC Family,

We have a culture of “yes” at Catholic Charities of Central Texas. When there’s a need in our community, we say yes to being part of the solution. But there’s more to it than saying yes. It takes dedicated and experienced staff, volunteers, supporters, and community partners to turn that yes into a positive result. Luckily, we have them in spades at Catholic Charities.

In our 2023 fiscal year, Catholic Charities proposed bold solutions to meet the growing needs of our community. We asked you to be bold with us, and you responded with a resounding yes. To me, that was the story of our 2022-2023 fiscal year.

Together, we launched a program to aid refugees fleeing war and persecution. We began walking alongside veterans to pull them out of homelessness and get them into a stable home. We opened a new office to expand our services in the Killeen area. All while continuing to deliver our other much-needed services throughout the 25 Central Texas counties in our Diocese.

If you are reading this letter, it means we relied on you to make our bold vision a reality. As we begin our next fiscal year, you have my commitment that Catholic Charities will continue saying yes and working to ensure every Central Texan can thrive in their God-given gifts and dignity.

Thank you for BEING BOLD with us!

Blessings,
Sara Ramirez
Executive Director

FINANCIAL REPORT FY 2022-2023

BOLDLY SERVING CENTRAL TEXANS

In our 2023 fiscal year, we launched our Be Bold Campaign, one of our most ambitious campaigns to date. Gifts to our Be Bold Campaign helped us
launch several new initiatives to help prevent homelessness, aid refugees, house veterans, improve mental health in children, and more.

BE BOLD CAMPAIGN

Thanks to the support of our community, our bold new initiatives are already making an impact to fight back against poverty and
homelessness in Central Texas. Here are updates from two of our biggest new efforts of FY23.

HOUSING HOMELESS VETERANS

  • 5 veterans housed
  • 45 unhoused veterans in process since October 2022
  • 4-6 months: Average time to provide an unhoused veteran with stable housing

“Not all Service Members are the same, and asking for help is hard for them. But as a Veteran myself, we were trained to never leave a fallen comrade behind. The most rewarding part of my job is being able to assist the Service Member not only with housing but with other aspects in their life, so that they can maintain a healthy and stable life.” – Andrew, Case Manager, St. Michael’s Veteran Services

HELPING REFUGEES

In 2023, we launched our newest program—Refugee Resettlement Services. With an increase in refugees arriving in Central Texas from Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Cuba, Catholic Charities was approached to help refugees socially adjust as they start their new life here in Central Texas.

“Being a refugee is not a choice. As human beings we all deserve to feel a sense of safety. Our Refugee Resettlement Services team is proud to protect and empower these families, and enrich our community at the same time.”
– Jessica, Program Manager, Refugee Resettlement Services

A HISTORY OF COMMUNITY SERVICE

One of our biggest milestones in 2022 was the opening of our newest office in Killeen, TX. We continue to enhance our services
across our entire 25-county Central Texas region, with a special emphasis on helping underserved communities.
