Sadly, there’s a large population of veterans who are already homeless right here in Austin. 

We’ve hired staff members whose entire focus is to work individually with veterans, help them solve their unique challenges, and ultimately ensure they are housing stable.

You can help us ensure no veteran in Central Texas is forced into homelessness.

We’re working with the City of Austin to help prevent homelessness in at-risk areas where the cost of living is spiking the most. To do that, we’re not simply going to pay someone’s rent for a month. We will be working with each person individually to solve whatever barriers they face—getting them into more affordable housing, dealing with underlying mental health issues, getting them some job training. By doing this, we can ensure people avoid becoming homeless in the first place, and help set them up for future success.

In the past year we’ve seen a big spike in refugees coming to Central Texas, and Catholic Charities stepped up to serve them.

We are officially adding a whole new segment to our program menu, just to help refugees.

We’re going to be supporting refugees with things like employment services, financial education, cultural competency, medical assistance—all the things these families need to feel welcomed, integrate into our community, and be successful in their new home.

Studies show anxiety and depression rates are spiking among Texas children. Many are on months-long waitlists to see a counselor, and school psychologists are in short supply.

We can’t afford to wait until it’s too late to focus on the mental health of our children. Your Catholic Charities is stepping up to address this crisis. We’re launching an innovative mental healthcare model that’s never been done before.

We’re working to put a virtual therapy station in every Catholic School in the Diocese of Austin. That means every child will have access to a counselor if they need it.

With this project, we’re breaking down all the barriers kids face when it comes to accessing mental healthcare—time, cost, language, transportation, and more. Plus, no child will be turned away due to an inability to pay.

Once we’re successful in our Catholic schools, it doesn’t have to stop there. This model can be replicated in any school—public or private—throughout Central Texas. From there, it could be used statewide, or even nationwide.
