The Lacayo family came to CCCTX seeking parenting support after finding out they were pregnant with their first child. They were having financial difficulties at the time, relying on DoorDash for income and struggling to pay their rent and bills. They were renting a single room in a home with roommates. Determined to provide a good life for their baby, the Lacayos knew they needed to improve their situation to better support their growing family.
After several parenting classes and meetings with their case manager, the Lacayos shared their financial struggles. They asked their case manager with advice about finding a better job for Mr. Lacayo. Their case manager worked with the family to do some job hunting, and Mr. Lacayo immediately began submitting applications.
By the time their baby was born, Mr. Lacayo was already fully employed and thriving at his new job. The family is now able to afford their own apartment and provide for their new child, who is very loved.
“We managed to become independent. We are always grateful that Catholic Charities helped us find that job. Now we can say that we have a home for our baby.”
