The Rivera's Disaster Response Story

Disaster Response

Read this letter from a family served by our Disaster Response program after the 2024 tornadoes.

I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your help.  The storm caught us off guard and it financially hit us hard.

The last few months have been hard.  We had to bury my nephew unexpectedly and he was unemployed and uninsured.  His mother, my sister was homeless and my brother took her in and we helped financially.  She has moya moya disease and it has left her mentally handicapped.  She unexpectedly passed away in April and we had to cover her funeral expenses as well.

The tornado caused flooding over 50 percent of our home.  We had no power for 5 days and it caused mold in the walls.  Our insurance did not cover the damage. We did not have flood insurance.  Our roof was heavily damaged and we found out we have a huge deductible.  Your help is so much appreciated.  We are very blessed.  We have strong faith and we are not hurt.  We are all together and we still have a house. Thank you Jesus!  It could have been so much worse.  We are grateful for your help and support.

God Bless you!
